New channel hope you like it The first Insomniac Spider-Man game is often considered to have the best story in the series, and I think a biog reason for that is because it has some excellent foreshadowing. And I’m not just talking about oooo look at this, Otto has arms sprouting out of him when you meet him signifying that, OBVIOUSLY, hes going to become a villain, but way more interesting things like foreshadowing massive twists as early as the first 30 minutes. Now of course, with a video like this, there will be spoilers so if you haven’t played the game, you should still watch the video and get mad at me for spoiling it; it might be kinda fun. Anywho, let's talk about some great instances of foreshadowing in Marvel’s Spider-Man. Games don’t make me cry often. I need something to hit me like a truck for me to cry and only one game has been able to achieve that until spider-man ps4, and it was pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky ok, that shit had 11 year old me in shambles. 18 year old me when I first got to the ending of Spider-Man PS4? Fetal position, groveling at my TV screen, 7 stages of grief. The heartbreak of having choose between saving the city and saving May is a dilemma that the insomniac games won’t ever be able to top, but what makes it so much harder is that May reveals that she knows Peters secret, asking him to take his mask off to speak with her. So much of Peters pain is hidden underneath the persona of Spider-Man, and her request that he drop that mask, drop that persona, forces him ask Peter, to confront Spider-Man’s failure. Now, how is this twist foreshadowed? In some obvious ways like her being always understanding when Peter is late but this is also foretold in the environment. When you walk around Feast, you can enter Mays office and see that she has photos of Peter, photos of Ben, and drawings of spider-man around her desk. Why would she care about Spider-Man, especially an assumedly random kids drawing of Spider-Man? Because she knows. She presents these photos as a badge of honour, because she is proud of the symbol her pseudo son has become for the youth of New York, and is proud that Peter has become the man he is, even when it means his personal life is always being sacrificed. There is no other reason that May would have a borderline wall of Spider-Man images here unless, obviously, she knew. I love this twist because it’s completely plausible without the game showing hints down your throat, and makes a second playthrough so much fun because you find details just like this, and it reframes her final moments. Do you think she was secretly hoping that her hero would come through for her? Theres a lot of hidden secrets in feast, most of which just amplify the world building, like finding that Uncle Bens clothes were donated to feast, and the many spills Peter can clean up, but there are also plenty of characters foreshadowed here. You can see and even talk to Gloria early on, who ends up as a recurring character in the games. She shows up after you rescue her in the beginning of the game, and not much attention is drawn to her until Miles Morales, but it’s cool to see her here anyways. During mays party you can see Howard in the background, long before you meet him and his pigeons. Little details like these work twofold, because for the developers they already have their models ready to go, and for the players, it makes these characters feel like a real part of this world, and makes Feast feel like a proper hub for the people of New York, instead of some narrative set dressing. This Spider-Man game, Marvels Spider-Man, otherwise known as Spider-Man PS4, or even further known as Spider-Man Remastered, is one of the best games for the console and is considered by many to have the best story. Part of what makes this story so good is the many instances of foreshadowing in Marvels Spider-Man.
