In this Physics video lecture in Hindi for class 12 we derived the formula for electric field and capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor of plates of area a and separation d filled with dielectric slab. To find out the electric field inside the parallel plate capacitor we used Gauss' theorem. The formula we derived for electric field is the ratio of the charge contained in one plate to the product of the area of the plates, absolute permittivity of the free space and the dielectric constant of the dielectric medium filled inside the plates. The formula we derived for electric field is the ratio of the product of the area of the plates, absolute permittivity of the free space and the dielectric constant of the dielectric medium to the separation between the plates. The formula suggests that the capacitance increases with the increment in the area of the plates and increment in the dielectric constant of the medium. The capacitance, on the other way, decreases with the increment in the separation between the plates.
