JOIN BROADCAST PLAZA TODAY, DISCORD'S MEDIA DISCUSSION COMMUNITY — http://bit.ly/S31MA Opens and talent rejoins (aired at the bottom of the hour) for the newly launched 5pm and 6pm newscasts from Fort Wayne's Allen Media-owned Fox affiliate. Recorded on Monday, February 13, 2023. About a week before the launch, the station announced its expansion into the 5-7pm slot with two hours of live, local news. Allen, to its credit, has recently expanded staff and hired market veteran Terra Brantley as their new main anchor. They're also actively looking for a co-anchor Terra. This expansion marks the first time they have done news outside of the 10pm timeslot. The news department has always been small since Nexstar launched it in 2009, and it never has expanded until now. They changed around the opens somewhat, and are using different cuts of Stephen Arnold's U-Phonix for it, but no other changes were otherwise made, continuing to use the same graphics they've had for twelve years and set they've had 14. They are using the old Sinclair themes moved over to U-Phonix at 5pm, and the KNWA evening themes (a relatively new update from around last year) at 6pm. Steve Davis is the voiceover artist. Allen is a frugal operator and it doesn't seem like other changes are in store for the presentation. The station does try to put out as good of a product as it can though with the limited resources it has. Anchored by Terra Brantley with weather from meteorologist Beverley Perry. 0:00 - Fox 55 News at 5 tease/open 1:14 - Fox 55 News at 5 talent rejoin 1:41 - Fox 55 News at 6 open 2:17 - Fox 55 News at 6 talent rejoin ©2023 Allen Media Group Broadcasting and WFFT-TV, no copyright infringement intended.
