1 Minute Skatepark guide Rosny Skatepark Tasmania This skatepark is nestled on the East side of The River Derwent Near Hobart. The skatepark is also next to a coles shopping centre and that would be why I had to fish 7 shopping trollies out of the 12 foot bowl when I arrived. I’m sure that this is some kind of world record! Because this park has so much squeezed into it I will do it section by section. We will start on this side. It is almost like a long halfpipe made from all different types of Lego pieces. You ride it like a snowboarder rides a halfpipe, down the entire pipe from side to side. Starts off with a hip that launches you real high, I loved this hip as it was easy to ride. Not like the next section. This was very hard to see in the morning light, where the transition changes into the vert section, so you have to just guess and jump onto the ledge that is almost as round as a rail. It slides surprisingly well and it was making me do switchups without even trying. It then has another crazy ledge, that is on a 45 degree angle that when you lock in, you slide fast but you don’t want to fall on this ledge because it will be very painful! But it was unique and it’s really long. There’s a ledge that has kickers on both sides that place you onto the ledge with minimum effort and it was fun to grind both ways and both sides. Next we move onto the middle section that has a beautiful kink quarter pipe, and it is segmented with different heights and transitions, the coping was great! It is also rare to have something like this. It doubles up as the run up for the middle section that has this really cool long ledge with two mini fun boxes so you can do all types of fun combos on it. It leads onto the p-Rail that goes flat and down a mellow bank. And once again it has a big quarter bank thing to get speed going back the other way. Well planned out skatepark, the flow was good and it works well for lines. The concrete had just been painted and it was very slippery. One of the funniest things at the skatepark was the bank to quarter and if you make the full grind you can come back into the bank on the other side. There is also a simple p-rail on the center that you can throw into your line. Or one of the many ledges that are also situated in this section. Then we go to the 3rd section, they have a quarter down the end and a vert wall down the opposite end, in the middle and a variety of different snacks for you to enjoy. Like the deadly tombstone. I have seen way too many people axe themselves on these things. They look innocent but I can assure you, they are nothing of the type! Another nice ledge that has a wedge to lift you onto it and a rectangle rail that the unicyclist was pulling off some cool tricks on. We leave the best to last, up the top is a massive vert bowl with pool coping and made out of smooth concrete. It has two levels and I would say the small section is 7 foot and the deep bit is 12 foot. It wasn’t easy to push the mangled trollies out so Spinksy and his family helped get them out! This skatepark ticks every box, it has a rough reputation so lock your car and keep an eyeball on your bags but I have to give this skatepark 6 Boag’s out of the six pack!
