[WATER RESCUE] Sunrise Fire Rescue & Sunrise Police Responding to and On Scene of a Car in a Canal

On 1/25/22 at around 5:30 PM Sunrise Fire Rescue & Sunrise Police received reports of a vehicle in a canal in the 7700 block of W Oakland Park Blvd, close to N University Dr. Callers report that a vehicle drove into the water and was not known how many occupants there are. It was reported that one of the occupants surfaced and shouted "I can't swim" before descending under the water again. It was later found that the vehicle, a gold colored sedan, was occupied by two people, a male and a female, who are sadly deceased. Crews from Sunrise Fire Rescue, Sunrise Police Department and Westway Towing were on scene for approximately 4 and a half hours. At the time of the posting of this video, the cause of the accident is still under investigation. Units due: BC39, C39, E59, EMS39, Q92, R48, R59, R72, R92, and TRT92.
