Today, I’m going to tell you the story of a French car with a Spanish name and a really international history – Renault Fuego, produced from 1980 to 1985 in Europe and from 1982 to 1993 in Argentina. It was a car with a brilliant exterior and comfortable interior. But its dynamics and handling weren’t too sportive and this caused disappointment. It was allegedly the first production car with an electronic remote door lock and a central lock. And it was the first car with optional remote audio controls mounted on a steering wheel – a feature we all got used to now. Renault Fuego was a very interesting car with a brilliant and unusual design, great fuel economy, and many amazing features. It was a good car, especially in the last years of its production. But the decisions made regarding the technical and production parts of that car, decisions that looked logical at that time when Renault wasn’t in its best shape, they didn’t work. These cars are massively underestimated. They are actually very interesting and special, but they are kind of forgotten and become very rare at the same time. And a combination of interesting and rare is almost a guaranteed recipe for a further increase in collectible value. So, if you want one, do not wait. *** If you’d like to buy a classic, exotic, or enthusiast car in Europe and bring it to the United States – we can help.
