While the police force of Chennai is headed by a police commissioner, the administrative control of Chennai is with the Home Minister of Tamil Nadu. The city's traffic is controlled by the Chennai City Traffic Police (CCTP). Previously known as Madras, the city was renamed as Chennai afterward.
