MUTEK TouchDesigner Event Tokyo 2025 - LT Slides [EN subtitle] ‘Interactive 3D Visualization of Deep Learning Depth Estimation with Touchdesigner + Midi’ Description: This presentation explores the potential of deep learning–based depth estimation technologies in combination with TouchDesigner and MIDI interaction. In recent years, depth estimation has rapidly advanced within computer vision and 3D graphics, opening new opportunities for artists and designers. The workflow begins with image / video generation, using sources such as Midjourney or real photographs, which are then processed into depth maps and 3D data through tools like ZoeDepth, MoGe (Monocular Geometry Estimation), and Video Depth Anything. These outputs are transformed into point clouds and GLSL visuals inside TouchDesigner, where they can be explored in real time. MIDI controller maps parameters such as image input, geometry orientation, scale, and noise, enabling an interactive and performative experience. Beyond the screen, this approach considers the translation of digital explorations into physical space through 3D printing or CNC, as well as immersive overlays using XR technologies. — Images: Coop Himmelb(l)au ingenhoven Space Pointillism Team (CAADRIA Workshop) Risa Kagami — Risa Kagami Born in Tokyo and now working between Japan and Germany, she works across architecture and digital art. She studied architecture at the Tokyo University of Science and the University of Tokyo, with an exchange at TU Munich. She has worked at international studios such as Coop Himmelb(l)au in Vienna and ingenhoven associates in Düsseldorf, and is a registered architect in Germany. Beyond architecture, Kagami explores digital and interactive media, with recent experiments in deep learning depth estimation, XR, and real-time visualization. Her work spans both digital and physical output, often connecting computational design with digital fabrication. — TouchDesigner Event Tokyo 2025 https://derivative.ca/community-post/...
