Amritpal Singh, a supporter of the Khalistani movement, was apprehended in Moga, Punjab, and taken to jail in Dibrugarh. Other Amritpal associates are also detained in Dibrugarh Jail with Amritpal. Each is housed in a different cell. A complaint was submitted last month claiming Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh was being held in "illegal custody" by the police.  A day after his detention in the Punjabi region's Moga district was dismissed as infructuous by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday. Imaan Singh Khara, the legal representative for Amritpal Singh and his organization, "Waris Punjab De," filed the habeas corpus petition on March 19 to have the preacher released from police custody.
