New Pen Day ~ 🌸 Unboxing Walltown Pens Onslow Blood Money & Ruby 🌸 Sakura 桜 ~ Episode 111

#mandamademedoit #mariamademedoit Here is a little unboxing of a gorgeous new Walltown Pens pen. In keeping with my 🌸 Sakura 桜 🌸season pink theme this month, here is the Onslow Blood Money with Ruby finials filled with a beautiful Taccia 🌸 Cherry Blossom-themed 🌸 ink, which is very saturated. This ink is part of a series of Taccia inks based on Japanese Ukiyo-e artists and selections of their works, some of which are based on characters in Japanese plays or other artwork, especially woodblock prints I believe from the Tokugawa or Edo Period (1615-1868), which was a centuries’ long period of peace during the Tokugawa Shogun ruled era. (And yes, James Clavell’s novel Shōgun which is set during this time is one of my favorite books!) The Taccia ink boxes in this series are quite stunning, and I really appreciate and enjoy the descriptive detail provided on the side about the painting used on this box. The image is Kitagawa Utamaro’s “Girl blowing Vidro,” and this ink color is based on the red from the image. Vidro is a Portuguese word for glass or glass toy. Kitagawa Utamaro was a Japanese artist, one of the most highly regarded designers of ukiyo-e woodblock prints and paintings who is best known for his bijin ōkubi-e "large-headed pictures of beautiful women" of the 1790s. I have to blame this pen purchase on both ‪@inksplat‬ Manda’s and ‪@MariaRosseau‬ Maria's videos that showcase their beautiful Walltown Pens. Also, get well, get well soon Maria!!
