Melanie Brown, known as Mel B, is a member of one of the most successful female bands in the world, the Spice Girls.  She's also a mum of three daughters, a businesswoman and a survivor of domestic abuse - like nearly 2 million women and 700,000 men in England and Wales. Melanie Brown endured a traumatic ten year marriage and has since become a campaigner for the rights of domestic abuse victims by becoming a patron of the charity Women's Aid. She tells Newsnight in an exclusive interview she wants a root and branch reform of how the UK approaches the issue - from the criminal justice system, to education in schools, to the police - and she reveals she wouldn't call the police to report domestic abuse because she wouldn't trust them to take it seriously.
