North Wales - visiting Aber Falls, Penrhyn Castle and the longest place name in the UK!

We visit Aber Falls (Rhaeadr Fawr in Welsh), one of the most dramatic waterfalls in Snowdonia (Eryri). Situated at the northern foothills of the Carneddau, the waterfall is part of Afon Goch’s (Red River) final descent to the Menai Straits. The river plummets dramatically from a height of 120 feet, crashing into a shallow rocky pool before continuing towards the village of Abergwyngregyn. ‪@parceryri‬ Then we do what all middle aged people do; we head to a National Trust property!! Penrhyn Castle is the former home of the Pennant family. It was rebuilt between 1820 and 1837 for George Hay Dawkins Pennant on the proceeds of the North Wales slate industry and sugar plantations in Jamaica. ‪@nationaltrustcharity‬ A quick stop in the pretty seaside town of Llanfairfechan for lunch at the Beach Pavilion and a view across the Menai Strait to Puffin Island.
