Talent Hunt & Advanced Speed Skating Camp Launched in Kargil Under Mission Olympics 2028 In Ladakh, Youth Services and Sports Department, UT Ladakh, in collaboration with the Ladakh Ice Skating Association, has launched a Talent Hunt and six-day Advanced Training Camp in Short Track Speed Skating at the Ice Hockey Rink, Bemathang, Kargil. The camp is being conducted under the guidance of International Speed Skating Coach and Coach Team India, Mohd Abass Nordak, with the objective of promoting speed skating in Ladakh under Mission Olympics 2028. Around 150 young athletes have registered for the training programme. Several Ladakh-based international athletes are also accompanying the coach to motivate and inspire young skaters. Speaking on the occasion, Coach Abass Nordak said that the response to the first-ever Short Track Speed Skating camp in Kargil has been extremely encouraging. He thanked the Youth Services and Sports Department officials for their support and said the camp aims to develop speed skating in the region on the lines of ice hockey. The six-day camp will continue till February 6 and focuses on introducing technical skills and structured training for young athletes.
