The Hunting Lodge is a unique 80 acre estate located just 35mins drive from the CBD in the heart of Auckland's wine country. With a Cellar Door & Lawn Bar, Restaurant, roaming gardens and event spaces, as well as a fully functioning winery and bottling works, Also visit the iconic Hunting Lodge Restaurant for a gastronomic treat, where the menu changes with the seasons, supplied by an on-site vege garden that currently has over 130 varieties of edible plants. The winery gets its name from a historic building which was the original country lodge of the Kerr-Taylor family from 1868. Interestingly, the family’s city home is also a heritage building, Alberton Hall in Mount Albert. (    • Alberton, Auckland , New Zealand  ) . In the 1970s, the Kerr-Taylor country house was renovated and opened as a fine dining restaurant named The Hunting Lodge. Across the last four decades I have visited this winery many times especially when hosting out of town guests, and it was a particular favourite of my folks on their trips north. 😀.
