X1 First Cymru Bus. Swansea University/Prifysgol Cymru, Fabian Way to Swansea Quadrant Bus station. The bus runs from the College which is the Fabian Way Campus of Swansea University. The bus is running along Fabian Way A483 with the first view towards Mumbles Head. Swansea Docks is on the left as the bus goes from Port Tennant into the St Thomas area. The Tennant Canal is nearby. The former alignment of the Midland Railway that ran from 1860 to 1950 runs to the right of the Dual Carriageway. The Church in St Thomas is in the Parish of St Thomas and Kilvey. St Thomas Church is in the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon in the Church in Wales. This area has been somewhat rebuilt with many roads. Around St Thomas was the Midland Railway station of St Thomas and the line continued up the Swansea Vale. The alignment on the left continued to Swansea Victoria railway station. The bus leaves Swansea East crossing the River Tawe/Afon Tawe over New Cut Bridge. There is a Tidal Barrage on the Tawe. The Tawe flows into Swansea Bay which is part of the Bristol Channel. The bus goes along the Quay Parade Road on the A4067. The city is on the right and the Maritime Quarter is on the left. The left side has the Swansea Museum formerly the Royal Institution of South Wales and the National Waterfront Museum which is run by Amgueddfa Cymru. Amgueddfa Cymru is the National Museums of Wales. The road becomes Victoria Road named after Queen Victoria (1819-1901). The famous LC Swansea or Swansea Leisure Centre is on the left which has a wave machine. The leisure centre is sited near the former Swansea Victoria railway station. It was built 1867 to 1964. The Mumbles Railway would have also ran along where these Dual Carriageways are now. The Mumbles Passenger Railway, March 1807-1960. The railway was closed by South Wales Transport with agreement of Swansea Council. The predecessor of First Cymru was South Wales Transport. South Wales Transport ran the buses. The bus turns off before the Oystermouth Road by Swansea City Council Offices. The bus turns right into Sandfields and runs along West Way/Ffordd yr Gorllewyn and Dillwyn Street near the bus station with Swansea Grand Theatre in view 🎭. The bus travels through to Quadrant Bus station. The Quadrant has many buses serving the Swansea area including buses to the High Street which serves Swansea railway station. Swansea has two universities, Swansea University/Prifysgol Abertawe and also University of Wales Trinity Saint David (Welsh: Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant). First Cymru uses the Diesel Wright StreetLite buses as a significant part of their fleet. The X2 is a Diesel service. First Cymru Bus are based in Swansea.
