Road Trip to Lagoa do Fogo: Exploring Nature's Masterpiece Lagoa do Fogo is literally translated as "Lagoon of Fire." It's located in the municipality of Ribeira Grande. One of the largest lagoons in the Azores archipelago and the second largest on the island of Sao Miguel, measuring 3 km long and 2.5 km wide. It is also the highest on the island, with an altitude of 949 m for the highest point of the caldera and a height of 575 m for the lagoon. This natural wonder is surrounded by lush greenery, rugged cliffs, and pristine blue waters, a breathtaking crater lake, nestled in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
