The Chunin Exams premilinary phase showed us thwo great fights that were extremely difficult for the losers. Rock Lee vs Gaara and Neji vs Hinata. Both Rock Lee and Hinata were hurt by the end of the fight. In Hinata's case, Guy, Kakashi, Kurenai, and Hayate stopped Neji before she got too hurt, but in Lee's case, the Jonin Senseis just watched as Gaara used his sand coffin to crush Lee's arms and legs, in one of the saddest Naruto scenes. But why were Lee and Hinata treated so differently in this phase of the Chunin Exams? Shouldn't they have stopped Gaara when Rock Lee was crawling away from the sand after exhausting his 5th Gate?
