Finally got a good look at the 2020 Samsung Q90T QLED UHD 4K TV. When unboxing this TV I did notice the strong build quality. This is the best built TV of the 3 major TVs for best TV of the year. It’s solid, but not too heavy. The stand however is not what I would call sturdy. When we had it up on the stand it was wobbly… a little odd. I know that Samsung wanted to reduce the footprint of the stand, but maybe they went a little too far. But after turning the TV on, I did notice the clear advantage in brightness over the OLED TVs. I love that is can just blast through reflections in the background and that can be a huge help if you room is bright and you have light directly behind you. That in addition to the anti-reflective coating on the screen makes for a low maintenance high quality viewing experience from straight on. Another thing I really love about the Samsung is just the ease of use and how it looks and works out of the box. The menus are far less complicated to navigate, the HDMI ARC just works, without having to make a bunch of changes for audio and you don’t have to mess with every little setting to get HDR and good quality out of the TV like my LG CX One of the best features on the Samsung is the remote. The Samsung remote is really sets the bar for remotes of the 2020’s. it’s sleek, it is Bluetooth so it can work in and out of the room… it can work with almost everything you have including apple tvs, amazon sticks, cable boxes and also sound bars and receivers. And it just works with ease. Just up down left right enter and back buttons. It has a well placed home button that brings up a simple menu where you can navigate anywhere. To other apps, to the settings, as a professional installer, there is no other TV remote that is as perfect as the Samsung remote. 5. So funny as it sounds, if all things are equal in picture quality vs brightness etc, then the remote control and overall ease of use on this TV are at the top of the game…. What about the complaints… Well the dirty screen is one… not as bad as it sounds, but I have noticed it on some of the frame TVs. Darker in the corners. The LED tvs have some uniformity issues and I don’t know why they can’t seem to work that out. And as far as that anti reflective screen, for some reason that coating seems to be a little over the top. Many complaints on the effect it can have when you have one problem light that turns into an arc or rainbow across your whole screen. Maybe they’re trying too hard. I’m not sure that the picture quality is as good as an OLED. So you can have the brightness and you can try to improve your contrast, but in the end, LED technology is just not OLED technology. You can’t individually light each pixel and therefore you can’t have a sharp of an image. You have pixel bleeding, you have some real pixel distortion on 1080p tv watching. So I do think this TV is really nice. It’s not an OLED, but has the brightness that can make the difference in a bright room as well as an amazing remote and ease of use. I chose the LG CX for the overall picture quality but it was not an easy choice. I will do more of a direct comparison video but what do you think? Was this helpful? Will you get the Samsung Q90T ?
