Niebüll is the gate to the island of Sylt for cars: they drive onto the DB AutoZug SyltShuttle train, which then goes across the Hindenburgdamm causeway. Loading on the on-ramp is very efficient: There are multiple lanes into which cars, trucks, tractors or whatever vehicles are sorted waiting for the train. They are then directed to flat-bed carriages or to the upper / lower decks of double-deck carriages. I'm assigned a place in the lower deck of a double-deck carriage directly behind the double 218 diesel locos. At the Westerland terminal, the barrier was removed on the right-hand side in front of my vehicle and I could drive right off - the locos were not removed.
