If you have no idea what the heck you're even looking at here or why I'm so giddy about it, I'd suggest you check the previous video for context: • The Hampden 8 Marks Collection, I: Intro +... All caught up? Cool - let's move on to reviewing the last five marks of Hampden's epic eight-bottle set, in order of increasing levels of cane vinegar, dunder, muck, esters, and madness. No barrels involved, no notes either, hold onto your butts: Hampden Estate "HLCF" Single Jamaican Rum (bottled circa 2022 as part of the 8 Marks Collection; pot-distilled molasses, 400-600 gr/HLPA esters; 60% ABV), 88/100 Hampden Estate "🔷H" Single Jamaican Rum (bottled circa 2022 as part of the 8 Marks Collection; pot-distilled molasses, 900-1000 gr/HLPA esters; 60% ABV), 88-/100 Hampden Estate "HGML" Single Jamaican Rum (bottled circa 2022 as part of the 8 Marks Collection; pot-distilled molasses, 1000-1100 gr/HLPA esters; 60% ABV), 91/100 - Hampden Estate "C🔷H" Single Jamaican Rum (bottled circa 2022 as part of the 8 Marks Collection; pot-distilled molasses, 1300-1400 gr/HLPA esters; 60% ABV), 90/100 Hampden Estate "DOK" Single Jamaican Rum (bottled circa 2022 as part of the 8 Marks Collection; pot-distilled molasses, 1500-1600 gr/HLPA esters; 60% ABV), 89/100 Once again, it isn't just a progression from less funky to more funky: every single one of these marks has its own personality and idiosyncrasies, and they're all really terrific. And you get eight of these things. The major shock for me is that DOK didn't win out. To recall, the first time I tried unaged DOK it made me cry ( • Worthy Park 502 151 (Velier) Versus Hampde... ) and the second time it landed one of the highest scores I've ever handed out on the channel ( • DOK Returns: Rom Deluxe Jamaica Trelawny W... ). This batch is damn fine rum, and hugely extreme rum at that, but it's not quite up at that level. The HLCF is one y'all already know through Rum Fire ( • Once Again, the Jamaican White Overproofs:... ), and this is a properly good variation on the same theme. The Diamond-H, meanwhile, really impresses me as an awesome midway between the savory and, well, "rummy" side of Hampden versus the high ester madness - it just doesn't like water much. So that means the winners of the flight, and of the set, are the glorious C-Diamond-H and HGML. The Catch the Diamond Hands tastes like someone dumped a bunch of flowers and fruit into a pot of boiling caramel, and I absolutely love it. What puts Hugmill ahead even a bit more still is the development it has in the mouth, from a relatively gentle delivery to *POW*, a ginormous midpalate explosion. And that's it, that's the whole Hampden mark range! May other holiday gift sets look on and tremble.
