Today’s restoration is more than just a project—it’s a full circle moment. In this special episode of Customs and Restorations, Vick Almighty takes on a pair of 2009 Space Jam 11s—the exact model that sparked his lifelong passion for sneaker restoration. These shoes aren't just iconic because of their place in Jordan Brand history, but because they were the first pair Vick ever restored, making this one personal. After over a decade of aging, the shoes arrived in rough shape, but that didn’t stop Vick. He kicked things off by carefully separating the soles, midsoles, and uppers—a process made easy thanks to the brittle, worn-out glue. With the pieces broken down, it was time to bring in the tools to get cleaning: the Reshoevn8r Essential Kit. Using the soft, medium, and stiff brushes from the kit, Vick thoroughly cleaned the uppers and midsoles. To tackle the heavy grime embedded in the icy soles, he reached for the brass bristle brush, giving them a deep scrub to remove years of wear. With everything cleaned and prepped, the soles were placed in the Vick 2000 alongside Reshoevn8r’s Sole Revive to begin the unyellowing process. Thanks to 4000 watts of UV power, the soles came out looking factory-fresh, completely iced out and crystal clear. The next challenge was removing the old, dried glue. Vick used a sharp blade to carefully shave off a thin layer of material from the uppers before switching to acetone and cotton balls to strip the midsoles. This step was crucial to ensuring a strong, clean reglue. Once all the components were ready, Vick made a special tweak to the construction: instead of using another air unit, he crafted a new one using EVA foam, a material that offers longer-lasting durability compared to the plastic units found in most Jordan 11s. With new glue laid down and the pieces bonded back together, the sneakers started to look whole again. To finish things off, Vick gave the shoes some final love—removing sock lint from the liners and buffing the patent leather with Reshoevn8r Sneaker Wipes and a touch of mink oil for that signature mirror shine. From his first restoration to today’s full-circle rebuild, this project is a reminder of how far Vick—and the art of sneaker restoration—has come.
