We’re getting ready for Sensors+Test and Sensors Converge. We’ll be demonstrating the new ADA32124, a dual-threshold advanced magnetic switch ideal for pneumatic cylinders. These “Grade A” sensors make “egg-cellent” cylinder limit switches. In this demo, we stop a pneumatic cylinder just short of an egg, to show the sensor’s hard to “beat” precision. Eggs are expensive, but we didn’t care since this is coming out of the marketing budget. The sensor is mounted on a six millimeter-wide breakout board, which fits in the pneumatic cylinder slot. The cylinder is controlled by a five-way, three-position solenoid valve, and an Adruino reads the sensor and controls the valve. The cylinder goes to the first threshold, then nudges forward to avoid overshoot. When we only use one threshold--the limit threshold--the sensor overshoots, and does expensive damage to an egg. In addition to precise end-of-travel control, the new sensor can also detect speed or direction, or tune ultraprecise switching thresholds. Its “egg-ceptional” features include: no double-switching artifacts a wide supply range of 4.5 to 30 volts 20 milliamp output drive capability operation up to 150 degrees Celsius (hotter than a frying pan) Here’s a link to more information on the new dual-threshold switch sensor: https://www.nve.com/webstore/ADA32124... And here’s the breakout board we used for this demo: https://www.nve.com/webstore/AG919-06 Eggs may be harder to find. See this and other demos at Sensor+Test and Sensors Converge.
