Fly Fishing Journey To Perfection | Original Fly Fishing Film

One man, 3 cameras, drone, 700 km(434,96 miles) of hiking on a mission to capture the unique experience of Fly Fishing for The Ghost of Rivers. Almost 30 minutes of pure dry fly fishing action. No words, just spectacular videography combined with music. The goal of this video is to present to the audience one of the most challenging fly fishing method and technique namely the sight fishing with dry fly for trophy european chub (Squalius cephalus). This fish species is extremely difficult to catch. Some of the fish caught in this video were more than 20 years old and the 2 biggest ones could be even over 30 . They are very circumspect and sensitive to the smallest unnatural movements. Once you spooked them, there is almost no chance to catch them on the same day. Also their fast changing feeding activity mood makes the successful fly fishing for this fish professor exceptionally complicated. Trophy Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Grayling, Salmon or any other salmonid species are easy target in comparison with the Trophy Chub. If you want to catch these "Einsteins of Rivers" you have to be willing to make a lot of sacrifices. Sight Fly fishing for them is more like hunting and in most cases you will have only one shot. If you missed it than all you can do is to move and try to find another one. Fly fishing casts like roll cast, bow and arrow cast, backhanded cast and all others are necessary to be able to present the dry fly perfectly to the targeted fish, especially when you fish for them on small jungle like mountain river. Casting while standing, kneeling, sitting or even lying is nothing exceptional. Jumping from river banks and cliffs, casting over multiple obstacles, waiting countless hours just for that one right moment. Surrounded by trees, bushes, grass, nettles, thistles, mosquitoes, horseflies, deer flies, spiders, simply speaking by anything what bites, stitches or stings and then to be still able to make the "hole in one" cast sounds like an impossible task. I almost forget to mention that the best time to target the trophy chub are sunny and the hottest days of the year- the hotter the better. On these days and on this Jungle-like river air-temperature can rise over 50 °C or 122 °F. You might ask: why going through so many hardships? To answer this question I will use words of my favorite philosopher St. Thomas Aquinas and his perfect definition of art: Commentary on the Politics of Aristotle "Art imitates nature, as the Philosopher teaches in the second book of the Physics The reason for this is that as their principles relate to one another so proportionally do their operations and effects. The principle of art-works is the human intellect, which is derived by a kind of likeness from the divine intellect, which in turn is the principle of all natural things. Necessarily then do artistic operations imitate nature and art-works imitate things that exist in nature. If then one teaching an art produces a work of art, the apprentice desiring to acquire the art should take note so that he can act in a similar way. So it is that the human intellect, which depends on the divine intellect for its intelligible light, must be informed concerning the things it makes looking to things that are naturally produced, so that it may work in like manner." Fly Fishing is Art that imitates nature and fly fisherman imitates the Divine Intellect by using his highest faculty the human intellect according to right reason, which activity is very pleasurable. Art has the note of virtue and virtue is that which makes human act good. Fly fishing requires many virtues. To name a few: Faith, Hope and Charity(theological virtues). Patience and perseverance(moral virtues) Conclusion: Knowing all this, you can not only become better fly fisherman, but even better human being.
