A series of short clips that will explore and reveal the natural wonders of Sydney's natural landscape. The aim of these clips is to answer the questions so many people ask about our natural areas - How do I get to know all the different eucalypt trees? What's a good way to learn about native plants? How is that fire is so important to natural areas? Why are the sands at Bondi Beach different to those at Palm Beach? Why does Sydney have cliffs in the east, flat plains in the middle and then huge sheers cliffs again around Katoomba and Blackheath? Why are some areas built out and others national park? Why was Sydney Sandstone an internationally favoured building material in the 19th century? And many more questions leading us into a myriad of subject areas ... all focusing on helping you know more about how the Sydney Basin works (from a natural heritage perspective). This first clip is a peek into the evolutionary story of the earth and an introduction to the forces that shape our planet and that ultimately led to the formation of the Sydney Basin.
