Cityrama Citroën U55: One of the Most Outlandish Buses Ever Built! [French Bus History]

Back in 1955 or so, the newly formed Paris tour company Cityrama ordered a fleet of new buses. But, these were not to be any tour bus. It was to become one of the most incredible and outlandish buses ever built. Based on the long version of the Citroën T55 utility truck, with a body built by the French coachbuilder Currus, it turned out to be one of the most memorable and incredibly designed buses of all time. Very little is known about these buses - only 5 to 10 are known to have been built, and they lasted until the year 1980, incredibly. At least one was destroyed by fire, as they had a penchant for overheating. A few years later, a still unusual, but slightly more conventional version of the U55 was built, based on a Saviem bus chassis.
