Welcome! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Sunday Mass celebration on this Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time. In today’s insightful Homily, Father David O’Leary explores the depth of the Ten Commandments, moving beyond "thou shalt not" to a positive, heart-centered way of life. He reflects on Jesus' teaching that true righteousness is not found in external rituals but in the internal disposition of the heart. By fixing Christ at our center, we are empowered to move beyond the letter of the law to a life of genuine charity, chastity, and gratitude. As we stand on the cusp of the holy season of Lent, we are invited to ensure that Jesus dwells within us so that we may "joyfully bear fruit for the salvation of the world". The Scriptures highlight the gift of human freedom and the radical interiority of the New Covenant: -The First Reading (Sirach 15:15-20): The prophet teaches that God has set before us life and death, good and evil, and whichever we choose shall be given to us. It is a powerful reminder that "immense is the wisdom of the Lord" and He understands every man's deed. -The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 119): A commitment to the divine path: "Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord!". -The Second Reading (1 Corinthians 2:6-10): St. Paul speaks of a mysterious, hidden wisdom revealed by the Spirit, declaring that "what eye has not seen, and ear has not heard" is what God has prepared for those who love Him. -The Holy Gospel (Matthew 5:17-37): In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus challenges His disciples to a righteousness that surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees. He transforms the commandments against murder, adultery, and false oaths into a call for purity of heart, reconciliation, and total integrity: "Let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no". Having been "fed upon these heavenly delights," let us pray that we may always long for the food that gives true life.
