Holi in Govardhan is a time of colors, devotion, and delicious food. The streets are filled with the aroma of freshly fried snacks and traditional sweets. We set out on a street food tour to experience the best local flavors before the festival. Our first stop was Harilal Kachori Wale. We had aalu kachori with chutney, a quick and satisfying breakfast. The kachoris were freshly fried in mustard oil, making them crisp and flavorful. Next, we visited Shree Nath Ji Misthan Bhandar. If you love rabri, this place is a must-visit. Fresh batches were being made at regular intervals. We were lucky to taste some straight from the kadai. It was thick, creamy, and delicious. Chirag Namkeen Bhandar was our next stop. We tried some of their best-selling namkeen, including mota mixture, hing mixture, dal biji, sev, and saloni. Each had a unique taste and crunch. At Shree Giriraj Misthan Bhandar, we had bedai kachori with sabzi and chutney. The kachoris were stuffed with moong dal and fried in ghee. The pumpkin sabzi was much loved for its mild sweetness, making the meal even more special. Everything here, from the bedai to the sweets, was prepared in ghee, adding to the rich flavors. Shree Govardhan Misthan Bhandar had a variety of sweet and savory snacks. Their aalu tikki chaat was the highlight. The tikki was super crisp, topped with matra, dahi, and chutneys. Every bite was packed with flavor. We stopped at Gopal Ji Kanji Vada Stall for a bowl of refreshing kanji vada. The vadas were soaked in tangy mustard-flavored kanji, making it a light yet flavorful dish. In the evening, we returned to Shree Giriraj Misthan Bhandar for their samosas. These were one of Anubhav’s favorites. The crisp casing and zesty fried potato filling made them a perfect evening snack. Chauni Chacha Parathe Wale was next. Parathas are a filling option, and we tried their sev paratha. Sev, a crunchy namkeen, was mixed with a potato filling and stuffed into the paratha. It was unique and delicious. At Shree Giriraj Jalpan Grih, we stopped for a cup of chai. This place is one of our favorites for tea. They also serve coffee and lassi, making it a great spot to relax. We wrapped up our food tour at Lala Paan Bhandar. A flavorful paan was the perfect way to end our journey through the festive streets of Govardhan.
