Refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh on Sunday continued arriving in Armenia across the border with Azerbaijan in cars and ambulances. Earlier on Sunday, an advisor to the Nagorno-Karabakh leadership said that the 120,000 ethnic Armenians there would leave for Armenia as they do not want to live as part of Azerbaijan and feared ethnic cleansing. Hundreds of recently arrived ethnic Armenian refugees were given shelter and food at hotels in the town of Goris near the border with Azerbaijan. Armenia's Prime Minister on Sunday said Azerbaijan and Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh bear responsibility for the possible exodus of ethnic Armenians from the region, after Azerbaijan launched a military offensive this week. Armenia and Azerbaijan have been at loggerheads over the mountainous region of Nagorno-Karabakh since 1988. A new round of major armed conflict broke out along the contact line in September, 2020, before Russia brokered a new cease-fire agreement in November.
