While the IronWolf only has a 3 year warranty. Officially the pricing of the IronWolf Pro is a lot more expensive than the IronWolf, however I personally managed to get my IronWolf Pro from eBay brand new for the same price as I bought my IronWolf from an actual computer hardware store. Regarding performance the IronWolf drives do perform around 7% faster than the IronWolf Pro drives in sequential read and write operations which also leads to around 7% more noise. However the IronWolf Pro drives perform around 18% faster at in out operations per second, than the IronWolf drives, at a cost of around 20% more noise. The difference between IOPS and sequential operations, is sequential means reading from one file, for example opening a large video file, the IronWolf can copy it faster than the IronWolf Pro. IOPS is random access, for example listing out the number of files in a directory or accessing multiple files at the same time. For heat, the IronWolf drives ran around 2 degrees celsius hotter. Overall, while there is pros and cons on the performance for both, it's not going to be the kind of difference you find between a HDD and SSD, or even a slower 5400 RPM drive. So, for me personally I would base the buy primarily on the warranty vs the best deal you can find at the time of purchase.
