A demonstration of these three temperaments with the prelude BWV 870. Unlike the first book of WTC, this was written later in Bach's career; I noticed that it sounds not as I would expect in Werckmeister III and wondered if this is because the great composer had become more embedded with slightly more 'well' temperaments as time went on. Is it possible that the second book of WTC requires something more equal than Werckmeister III? However, I find it completely lacks character in equal temperament (it is like the colour is sucked out of it). Anyhow - here are the three renditions which are in the three temperaments. I shall let you decided (and hopefully comment upon) the differences.
