BETiC's Biopsy Gun

The variable length, multi-use Biopsy Gun is used to take a small sample of tissue without infecting the intervening tissue, with the additional advantage of adjustable length of firing, besides being easier to operate. The term ‘Biopsy’ was first introduced by Ernest Besnier in the late 1800s. Internal tumors or mass formations need to be identified as benign (harmless) or malignant (cancerous), to formulate a treatment plan. For this, a biopsy is performed, where sample tissue or cells are taken from your body so that it can be analyzed in labs. In the past, surgeons made open cuts to reach tumors and mass formations. On extracting the sample the cuts were stitched. This posed the risk of contamination of the retrieval path. Further on, a Biopsy Gun was an instrument used for this procedure. However, this gun came with 3 main drawbacks: (1) It had to be imported at high costs (2) The guns available could extract only a fixed length of the sample (3) It was not reusable. Then came BETiC’s innovation – Introducing a Reusable Biopsy Gun with an Adjustable firing length. BETiC’s sterilisable biopsy gun enables only the needle to be disposed off, so the gun can be reused.This lowers the cost for a patient to less than one-fifth of the market price, solving all 3 problems by making it: (1) Cost effective (2) Adjustable in length for all shapes and sizes of tumors and mass formations (3) Reusable.
