I am testing blending tools to show primarily people with physical limitations just how each tool will work and the benefits and disadvantages to each of them. 1. Make Up Sponge--I can't fold it to use it effectively, so this is not a tool I would recommend. It is only $1 for a bag though, so it's not a big investment to try them. 2. Hot Glue a Make Up Sponge into a pop bottle lid and then glue that into a plumbing fitting. Also very inexpensive, but I could not get a clean line when using it and it really wasn't worth the amount of effort to hot glue it together when other tools are better and not much more expensive. 3. Fingertip dauber--Come usually in a pack of three or more and sell for between $4 and $7 for three before coupons. Good for small projects, not for big. 4. Wood finger dauber --could not find one online as I bought mine at a craft show. Good for small projects, not for big. 5. Stencil Brush $7.99 for 15 at Amazon. I can't get these to work well at all. 6. Stipple Brush Nice fit in the hand but I got weird marks in my papers and couldn't use it properly. $2.39 at Create for Less for a smaller one than mine. 7. Stampin' Up Blender Sponge--You are supposed to cut these into quarters, but I didn't because I can't hold small things properly. I also could not get a good clean image with the sponge. $3.50 for three at Stampin' Up. 8. Ranger Round Blender Tool $6.99 before coupons at Joanns--works well but hard to hold. 9. Ranger Rectangular Blender Tool $7.49 before coupons at Joanns- works as well as the round but same problem in my hand. 10. Judikins Brush--Love the way this leaves a really light color on the paper and fits well in my hand. Could not find a price for it but I bought mine at Pat Catans at a stamp show. 11.Darice Ink Foam Pods--Looks like a marshmellow and comes in a set of 24 for around $7. The first time you use it, it absorbs a lot of ink and is hard to use because the ink won't leave the pod. Once the ink has dried into it, and you apply another color, it works well. It was a surprise to me that it worked as well as it did since the only other time I had tried it, the ink was not coming off onto the paper. 12. Tupelo Designs LLC custom made blender tool $4.75 at Tupelo Designs LLC website. I love the way this feels in my hand and it leaves a nice image. It is my favorite blending tool for the reasons I have stated. Plus it uses the sponges from the rectangular Ranger blending tool so customizing the sponge for the project is not more expensive than if you bought the Ranger one.
