Central America grapples with high rates of infectious diseases such as dengue fever, malaria, and tuberculosis, which strain healthcare systems and pose significant public health risks. These risks are exacerbated within communities where access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and healthcare services is limited. Environmental factors such as deforestation and climate change also contribute to the spread of vector-born disease, further complicating health security efforts in the region. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted all these challenges and vulnerabilities in the region and prioritized the topic of health security on the global agenda. This webinar features recent health security strengthening efforts by USAID’s PROPEL Health in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras using a One Health approach that integrates global health security into primary healthcare. Join us as leaders in the region discuss how they are collaborating across USAID projects and with national and multinational stakeholders to strengthen global health security from all angles—from the clinical, to the policy and governance strengthening, and the information systems strengthening that underpins it all. 00:00 Introduction 01:45 About PROPEL Health 06:14 USAID GHS Priorities 15:25 El Salvador 25:25 Guatemala 35:15 Honduras 47:44 Panel Discussion 1:17:33 Q&A
