Chad provides a thorough lesson on the Kinetics of Radioactive Decay. Radioactive decay undergoes exponential decay. The rate of decay is proportional to the number of radioactive nuclei, so as that number decreases, so does the rate of decay. The formulas describing the rate of radioactive decay are presented including the decay constant, a rate constant that is characteristic of a nuclide. Half life is also introduced and defined as the time required for half of a radioactive sample to decay. It is also shown how the half life for radioactive nuclides is constant and is dependent upon the decay constant. Finally, several kinetics of radioactive decay practice problems are solved involving rates of decay, half life, and the decay constant. 00:00 Lesson Introduction 00:55 Exponential Decay 03:19 Rate of Radioactive Decay 05:15 Half Life 11:01 Radioactive Decay Kinetics Problems Check out Chad's General Physics Master Course: https://www.chadsprep.com/physics-you...
