Since then I have created over 1,200 videos, only 20% which live on YouTube, and have helped over 1,000,000 nursing students pass their NCLEX, HESI, ATI, and Kaplan proctor exams. Thank you for the continued support and love as we strive to help LPN, LVN and RN students become licensed nurses! Vasodilators like Nitroglycerin, Nitroprusside, Hydralazine, and Isosobride are used for heart failure patients to lower blood pressure in order to decrease workload on the heart. Nitrates are another name for this class of medication, which are also used to treat chest pain like stable angina and unstable angina, and even a STEMI heart attack (myocardial infarction). Nitro works to dilate the coronary arteries of the heart in order to more oxygen to the heart muscle itself.
