The documentary recalls the historical time when the construction of the Roman aqueduct of Neamasus (old Nimes, France) was decided. Isaac Moreno uses historical research to describe the engineering challenge implied by this decision and how the engineers tackled it. He then explains how the water sources to feed the aqueduct and the best use of the topography were chosen in order to calculate the layout of waterways, and the techniques used to construct the pipes, build the arches and drill the tunnels. For this purpose elaborate virtual simulations are used to compare against the many interesting remains of the Nimes aqueduct that still exist. Once the magnitude of the project is appreciated, Isaac shows us the famous Pont du Gard, one of the most beautiful arched constructions of the Empire, reflecting on the display and the assumed colossal numbers of its cost. Next, by means of archaeological remains in the Nimes of today, and with elaborate graphics, Isaac explains how the distribution of water within the city was carried out. To show that even the most humble cities had at least one aqueduct, Isaac takes the viewer to the Tiermes and Chelva sites where he indicates the immense constructive efforts that were invested to provide water for such modest cities. And finally, (he shows us) the great aqueduct of Albarracin a Cella with its incredible tunnels on steep slopes and gallery of 5 km in length. Another example of a colossal amount of work, to ensure water distribution for a minor city.
