Let's take a pause from a London bus before a quick jaunt up to Lancashire begins, let's shift stylishly the Siemens way along the west side of the Sutton loop with a divisive Class 700 Desiro. 700 055 was built as part of the order of 115 Class 700s Siemens Desiro City's for Thameslink, with 055 being one of the 8-car examples based at either their Hornsey or Three Bridges depots, replacing class 319s, 317s & 387s. The Class 700s are also dual power and can be powered by third rail or overhead pantograph. Whilst these are quite nice trains, I do understand the criticisms particularly regarding the comfort of the "ironing board" seats. Our Thameslink journey comprises a service from Sutton to St Albans City, but we start our journey one stop up at West Sutton and head along to Sutton loop to Wimbledon calling along the way at Sutton Common, St Helier, Morden South, South Merton & Wimbledon Chase.
