NEW YORK -- Celtics fall to Knicks 119-81 in Game 6 and officially puts the Celtics back-to-back championship hopes to an end, as the New York Knicks win the series 4-2. Head Coach Joe Mazzulla spoke to the media about the loss in the game tonight as well as the series loss to the Knicks. Mazzulla was asked about how the Celtics can process this loss: "There's a perspective at the end of the day. We set a goal out, we didn't achieve that goal but it shouldn't take away from the mindset and the effort that the players put in." "You know this is the price you pay for trying to to go after something," Mazzulla was also asked about how he felt Coaching this group in which he shared: "I told the guys in the locker room, one of the honors of my life would be able to coach this group of guys. "Every one of these guys is a champion, a warrior and, they've done a lot of great things in this league and it's an honor to be able to share a locker room with them." He was also asked about the Celtics challenge of repeating: "There's just as many teams wanting to win so you got to execute." "You gotta tip your hats off to the Knicks and played a great series, they've been great all year. Thibs is a great coach" Looking towards the future Mazzulla was asked about potentially being without Jayson Tatum next season: "I haven't really thought one second of that. More just focus on the guys in that locker room right now and grateful for the effort and what they put through. That's really all that matters."
