Behind the scenes with local puppeteers

AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) - Local puppeteers Adam Kreutinger and Cameron Garrity know what performing with puppets is all about. “One thing they say about puppetry – if you’re comfortable, you’re probably doing it wrong,” laughed Kreutinger. “It’s a little painful, because you’re usually cramped into awkward positions and you have to do your best to get your head out of the shot,” echoed Garrity. Each of the puppets the two use has its own story line, and Adam builds each one differently and from scratch – based on what the artists need it to do. A basic puppet takes him about 40 hours to make. Others, like ones that blink their eyes, take a lot longer. The two work on theater shows, commercials, and are now producing a children’s show – which is part of Adam’s project to complete his Master’s Degree.
