Complicated Revision Meniscus Repair with Novostitch Plus

This video demonstrates a revision meniscus repair with the Novostitch plus. A complication of all inside meniscal fixation devices that are not all suture, is placement of the hard plastic device into the meniscus itself instead of the capsule. The result is that the meniscus now has a hard spot in it and this can fail or cut through the meniscus or float around in the joint if it breaks loose. In addition it will tear up the cartilage of the tibia or femur. If you have to take these out of the meniscus it can leave even bigger holes than when you put them in. I prefer to never use these devices due to the risk of cartilage, nerve and artery injury when placing them. Here I show you how to remove these devices and repair the defect with the Novostitch Plus. If your surgeon removes your meniscus you are going to get arthritis so even a bad attempt at repair is better than no attempt at all.
