ZERMATT Gornergrat Adventure – 1 DAY Budget Trip to Zermatt Switzerland in Winter

Zermatt is one of the most visited places in all of Switzerland. This got much to do with the iconic Matterhorn that makes one of the best subjects for photography in Switzerland. Zermatt is up in the Swiss Alps, a mainstream destination and thus expensive, even for Switzerland. In this video, I show you a great itinerary for a 1 DAY TRIP to Zermatt on a BUDGET. Zermatt is expensive, but costs can be cut, without compromising on the quality. You need to arrive to Zermatt by train from Visp or Täsch, you cannot park your car up in Zermatt. First go to visit the village, it’s less crowded during the morning, thus really great to roam around. There are a couple of interesting points to see in the village, the main street that is the shopping boulevard, there are a lot of restaurants and bars, the church square, the bridge just nearby that offers a nice view, the promenade along the river and the old town with the traditional Swiss houses. The old town is located at the Hinterdorfstrasse. This area is full of houses that are typical for Valais. Go up to the Gornergrat during the early afternoon. You will have to take a stunning train ride up to the Gornergrat; it’s said to be one of the best train tracks you can take in all of Switzerland. Up from the GOrnergrat, you will have a fantastic alpine panorama over the Matterhorn, Kleinmatterhorn, Rothorn and Dufourspitze. You also can see the massive Gorner Glacier that is really impressive to look at. One station further down at Rotenboden, you may rent a sledge and slide down to the next station at Riffelberg.
