In this video, we talk about how the Earth, the moon, and the sun all fit together to make things like the phases of the moon and solar eclipses. This is the first part in a series that talks about how Earth fits into our solar system and how the Earth's position with relation to the moon, the sun, and the other planets dictates what will be in our sky (and at what time of day it will be there!) This video is one in a series where we explain how rockets, orbits, satellites, NASA, and other things space related work. In addition, we will talk about the history of rockets and some movies and science fiction TV shows. We will post a video in the series each week. This whole thing started out as a blog, here: https://therocketscienceblog.wordpress.com/. Many of the topics found in this series were discussed on the blog. This content was created by the Center for Academic Innovation (https://ai.umich.edu/) at the University of Michigan (https://umich.edu/). The development team included: 1. Aaron Ridley - main content creation 2. Ahmed Lachheb (heavy lifter), Peter Arashiro, Parker Miles, Aaron Cecil-Xavier, Anna Anderson (animations), Anushka Raheja - content development 3. Steve Ewing (heavy lifter - https://www.linkedin.com/in/steve-ewing-72...) and Sam Baldwin - video recording and editing 4. Jenni Patterson and Sam Sieren - project management If you are interested in all of the videos on Rocket Science and the additional content that we have developed, it is all available at Coursera (https://www.coursera.org/specializations/r...)
