After reading some discussions on the internet stating that sram's 9 and 10 spd derailleur are basically the same except for the plastic cable guide, some people managed to replace the 10 speed cable guide with a 9 speed one on the earlier x 0 model where the cable guides are bolted onto the derailler rather than using rivets. I decided to give it a go by changing the shape of 10 speed cable guide so that it's lever arm is the same(or close) to that of a 9 speed derailleur. Here's what I did. I measured roughly the lever arm is about 2.5cm and 3.25cm for a 10 speed and 9 speed respectively. then simply made a extender out of epoxy clay to extend the lever arm to approximately 3.25cm. The result is this. p.s1 the chain clicking sound might be caused by the bent hanger. p.s2 the measurement are not precise, I just tried to make it as similar as possible by comparing them side by side. The tolerance seems pretty high, one of my friend managed to done the mod by using shock bushing.
