gday readers :-), another converted poem from the 1990's, the story of this one is an unknown soldier in WW2 replying to a letter from his wife but dies before he completes it..yea not the happiest of subjects but relatable by a lot of people over the decades. just having fun with technology enjoy or not ..lol....have a great day :-) :-) "Unsigned and Unknown" To my dearest... I received your letter dear, postmarked four years past Moved from place to place till I crossed its path Far from homeland shores, against the enemy's wrath The things you wrote, are held dear to me It does me proud to see your words To hear of home and family united Here in the muddied trenches where I lie A thousand years apart it feels When reading the words of your heart Now it's 1943 and our fight continues on They never falter, always massing A bodily cost that's taken every day Soldiering through the death and the disease Always the noise, the smoke, and the steel And at night the cries of our wounded elite They say it will be ending soon Here in the muddied trenches where I lie A thousand years apart it feels When reading the words of your heart The enemy's on the fall, along a united front So in my heart, a gladness has come For I may yet see you again Once more on my home shores I will....
