------------------------------------ This time, we flew from Beijing to Southern Xinjiang, diving straight into the embrace of the plateau. Beyond marveling at how vast Xinjiang truly is, we felt—deeply and viscerally—just how tiny humans are in front of nature. The mountains of southern Xinjiang are cold, rugged, and almost savage in their beauty. When night falls, the oppressive vastness sends chills down your spine. We traveled along National Highway 314, a road so smooth and level you could almost forget you’re driving on a plateau. We also took the Xinjiang–Xizang Highway, crossing mountain passes and passing through countless tunnels. Each time we realized that a single tunnel could cut our travel time in half—making it possible to “climb mountains without pain,” skipping one curve after another—we couldn’t help but say: these tunnels are truly a marvel of engineering. We experienced the winding Panlong Ancient Road, the silent beauty of the Tasha Ancient Trail, and visited small villages along the way—where an elderly man in a Zhongshan suit and bowler hat danced at a wedding, and a little boy kicking a ball shouted proudly, “I’m three years old!” For them, these narrow, rough mountain roads are already the best way out of the valleys. As we say in the video: “on the road to the future, not one shall be left behind.” Perhaps that’s the reason why people carve roads through ice and stone—so that everyone can move forward together. 🎥 Watch our new science documentary, co-produced by Lynk & Co and Institute for Planets: “Why carve a road through the Kunlun Mountains?” Join us as we journey deep into the Kunlun Mountains, and witness how an entire plateau road network is being built across the roof of the world. #KunlunMountains #Xinjiang #Xizang #SouthernXinjiang #XinjiangXizangHighway #PanlongAncientRoad #G314 #ChinaPakistanFriendshipHighway #G219 #TashaAncientRoad #PamirPlateau Subscribe to 【Institute for Planets】👉https://goo.su/ewIW5e1 Explore the infinite world with us, deconstruct everything in the world! 【My TikTok】 / institute_for_planets_ 【My Twitter】 https://x.com/planets_for 推荐播放列表👏 👉【什么是中国:省市篇】 • 什么是台湾?| What is Taiwan?【星球研究所】 👉【新天工开物】 • 2025年了,磁悬浮列车还有未来吗? What exactl...
