30 Years of Res Artis: Member Profile: TOKAS (Tokyo Arts and Space), Japan

To celebrate 30 years of 'Res Artis: worldwide network of arts residencies' we are taking the time to sit down with some of our wonderful Members. We have 650+ Members located in over 80 countries. They range from tiny grass roots arts initiatives to major organisations. Today we are celebrating Tokyo Arts and Space Residency (TOKAS Residency) from Japan! TOKAS AIR program provides creators with periods of residence at TOKAS Residency to engage in creation of works or research activities. It also conducts a program of bilateral exchange with its affiliated overseas organizations, under which TOKAS sends Japanese artists on overseas residencies and receives foreign artists sent by these organizations. Furthermore, TOKAS promotes exchange between the artists in residence and between the artists and people involved in its residency programs, etc., through meetings and the OPEN STUDIO program designed to introduce creative activities of the artists in residence. In these ways, TOKAS strives to be a hub where a diverse range of artists and creators can meet and engage in creative communication.
