🏔️ Berlevåg, Norway | A Town of Resilience in the Arctic Circle ❄️🚁 Berlevåg, a remote town in Norway’s Arctic Circle, has a history shaped by nature’s forces, war, and human determination. Captured in 4K drone footage, this video shows the stunning fjords, mountains, and harbor that define the town today. A History of Survival: 📌 Founded in 1914, Berlevåg’s location made it a key Arctic fishing hub. 📌 1913–1975: The harbor’s massive breakwaters took over 60 years to construct due to the relentless Barents Sea. Engineers developed over 11,000 tetrapods, which today protect the town from destructive waves. 📌 World War II: In 1944, as German forces retreated, they burned Berlevåg to the ground, leaving nothing behind. Residents were forced to flee, and the town had to be rebuilt from scratch. 📌 Thousands of years of Sami heritage are present in this region, long before modern settlement. 📌 Modern challenges: Like many Arctic towns, Berlevåg is losing residents as younger generations move to cities, leaving fewer than 1,000 people today. See Berlevåg From Above: This footage captures the town’s colorful houses, vast Arctic landscape, and the breakwaters that protect the harbor—a story of resilience, survival, and adaptation.
