In this video we go thru diagnosing and repairing a fuel tank expansion noise on GM late model old body style (OBS) era GMT400 trucks and SUVs. The noise we are covering in this video will be very noticeable and coming from the fuel tank, and can be a thud or thump or a twang kind of sound. The recreate for this noise can be very dependent upon the outside ambient air temperature, the temperature of the fuel, and the amount of fuel remaining within the tank. It will typically occur when the vehicle comes to. stop after driving for some miles, but can happen during initial acceleration as well. The truck illustrated is a 1998 Chevrolet K2500 Cheyenne with the RPO L31 engine, but the procedure and part(s) I share with you will be the same for any 1997 thru 2000 GMT400 generation OBS truck or SUV with either the 5.0L or 5.7L V8 or 4.3L V6 gasoline engines. So Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, and Holden for Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Silverado, Cheyenne, Escalade, Sierra, and W/T across C1500, K1500, C2500, K2500, C3500, and K3500 weight ratings.
