Today's UT session was 2 x seperate games (see team pic taken by 'Skinny' for sides picked by John My). It was graced by the refereeing skills of the 'Highly rated Lowley' ( carefully making sure I said that the right way around 😉) and the session Report is provided by 'Naughty Gary' Walker as follows: Well, I’ll go to the foot of our stairs but, hit me with a wet fish and the session started with a briefing to the 22 anxious looking players on the wherewithal and what’s it’s of walking football. Most of us, fresh with the rules still in our bags from Monday and not handed to our mums, stood and absorbed and waited with trepidation for Herr Stumbanfuhrer Lowley to take pitch one for 28 minutes. Red and blue had a slug fest and ended 4-4. No assists from Jan this week. Ken J, Graham J 2(editor) and Delores a penalty against a befuddled keeper that slid out of his penalty area for the magnificent blues, Dean plastered the nets with a hat trick and Glenn T( sponsored by Haribo), slid in the fourth. On the second pitch, administered by the up and coming 'Wonder Ref' (not to be confused with Stevie Wonder!) Gary Laister, a more free flowing affair occurred and discussions were taking place regarding a banana and two Micks, meanwhile, Andy G, Martin, on day release from France, Dan, Steve and Skinny all hit the onion bag for Yellow. Hurrah. Not to be outdone, nasty purple matched like for like with ease courtesy of Justin, Richie, Johnny M, Sam and debutant Phil Jowitt who sang “Hold on, I’m coming” later in the bar for question 7. Swaps took place after 28 minutes and Bernard took time out to prepare his music quiz(which no one could hear) and Toepoke Lordy gained a free transfer to the magnificent blues who maybe might have got more from 'Up and coming Wonder Ref Gary' and accidentally slipped to an unfair 8-2 to the dirty reds. Brendan somehow managed to miss hit a hat trick as the keepers vision was blocked, Ken and Martin a brace each, and poor Graham J only 1. The final encounter was recorded on a very small sheet of paper as officials were preparing for a post game debrief. It seems yellows stonked purples 7-3. There wasn’t much effort from most of the yellow team as they let Dan G smack in 5 goals(3 assists from Jan who didn’t play) Chris added two just for fun. The plastered purples managed three in retort via Dave Mr. Toe Poke Lord, Justin and Sam( - who didn’t sing when he scored, largely because his surname's Turner rather than Smith). Then came the Refereeing de brief. Several were spotted sliding away to the bar and trying to be unnoticed and I won’t mention Steve Zs name as a ring leader but he was fined £5 and warned to his future conduct. For any newbies, there will be a repeat of the new rules at the Monday Unlimited.🤣 Thanks 'Naughty' for another first class Report and everyone for playing well/in good spirit. Thanks also to our Refs Gary L and Mick L. One of the key messages from Mick was the 'old chestnut', of players moving too quick , not only when in possession but also out of possession too. So then, let's put all Mick's great feedback into place at Monday's UT session and have a good weekend all. 👍 ⚽️.
