Moved the 3.5hp briggs and stratton flathead engine to a vintage western flyer bike and put it where it's supposed to be: in the frame. Did a centrifugal clutch this time with jackshaft and all A-type 1/2" v-belts. Got lucky on the first belt and didn't need a tensioner. Also got a float style carb (H30 tecumseh style) with its intake adapter (28416A) and got it nice and dialed in with the idle and main adjustments. Ratio worked out to be pretty much 1:1 rpm:mph, so at 2500 rpm I'm going 25 mph. It takes a while to get going but it's at a nice sweet spot for cruising. This bike handles excellent and is nice and comfy with springy seat and good old steel frame letting me feel just enough of the road and engine vibe to be enjoyable. It's also quieter than pretty much any motorcycle except for that tell-tale go-kart sound of the clutch. Oh and since I let go of my old bmw motorcycle, I needed to come back with a true toaster tank.
